Playing PC Games could Improve your Social Skills

Improve your Social SkillsDo you enjoy playing on your PC, but feel guilty about the time you spend there?

Relax, it's THERAPY.

Researchers at the University of Quebec en Outaouais, Canada reveal that computer games are an effective treatment for specific fears.

Specific phobias are very common. Phobias extend from a fear of heights, to a fear of people.

Exposure treatment exposes individuals to the objects of their fear, in a safe environment, aiming to reduce responses of anxiety.

Researchers in Quebec tested the emotional responses and anxiety levels of 13 people with phobias and 13 others, while playing PC games involving their fears.

According to the researchers: "Virtual environments derived from games can produce the mid-range levels of anxiety that are most useful in therapy."

The researches reveal that PC games can be used effectively to treat people with common phobias. .

Result!!! We can stop feeling guilty! Playing games like The Sims, or other social simulators, may actually help overcome social phobias.
